SUPPORT IJOBA SHULE

The value of an Ijoba Shule education is incalculable, however, the actual cost of educating a  student is measurable and rising every year. Tuition provides only a portion of the Shule’s operating revenue. We cannot and will not survive if this remains the case. In order to fill the gap, Ijoba Shule is creating several fund developing vehicles. We are hopeful of being able to establish an endowment fund and expect contributions from the Ijoba Shule community. There are many ways to support the Shule that will also provide tax savings. Please contact Oba Sekou Olayinka, at 215-747-5737 to discuss these options.

The Annual Fund for Ijoba Shule

This is for families and friends to make contributing to the Annual Fund a philanthropic tradition. These gifts from members of our family collective (extended family) weave a strong fabric of support, providing the Shule’s leadership with the financial flexibility to respond to emerging needs.

The Campaign for The Ijoba Shule:

Focus on Faculty and Students

Scheduled to launch in Summer 2006, The Campaign for The Ijoba Shule: Focus on Faculty and Students seeks to raise $2 million in order for the school to secure the resources it requires to meet challenges in these early years of the 21st century. The Campaign's focus includes:

• Endowment for Dedicated Faculty
• Endowment for Financial Aid and Scholarships
• General Endowment
• Middle School Science Center
• Lower School Science Center
• Lower School Library
• Gymnasium

WAYS TO GIVE

There are many ways to support Ijoba Shule. Here are a few of the options to make a gift in your own name, in an individual's honor or in memory of a loved one.

Cash Contributions and Pledges
You can make a one-time contribution or pledge an amount to be paid over three years. Either option may provide a charitable deduction.

Securities

Appreciated stock may be transferred electronically to Ijoba Shule, offering you two benefits: a charitable deduction and elimination of capital gains tax on the asset.

Bequests

You may designate a specific amount or percentage of your estate for Ijoba Shule by including instructions in your will.

Charitable Gift Annuities

These gifts preserve income for you or someone you designate during your lifetime, after which the principal is transferred to Ijoba Shule.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

We are extremely encouraged as The Capital Campaign for The Ijoba Shule: Focus on Faculty and Students begins. Our goal is to raise $2.0 million. We are undertaking this campaign to pursue three objectives: to establish a reliable source of funding for faculty compensation, to create an endowment for financial aid that is separate from operating funds, and to acquire and fund capital improvements to Ijoba Shule facilities. I would like to tell you something about each of these goals.

Faculty
. Ijoba Shule has attracted a gifted and committed group of educators, and it is their bond with students that forms the foundation of the Shule. It is our goal to be able to  compensate our faculty commensurate with their talents, and it is essential that we continue to attract well-qualified candidates when openings occur. To do both, we must increase the level of compensation, currently funded through the operating budget. A successful Campaign for Ijoba Shule will allow us to create an endowment to support salaries, benefits and professional development more reliably.

Students
. As an institution that values inclusion, we want to attract talented students who are academically qualified regardless of their economic resources. To do that, we must have a source of financial assistance for students whose families cannot afford the full cost of tuition. A successful Campaign for Ijoba Shule will enable us to establish a separate endowment that will preserve our commitment to diversity among students.

Facilities
. The physical surroundings must keep pace with the needs of an intellectually engaged community and the demands of a 21st century academic program. To do so we are looking to acquire a building to house the Ijoba Shule of today, and also one that is capable of developing to take care of the students in the coming years. We have several other projects in the planning stage. When funding becomes available, we will be ready to move forward with additional projects. We are certain of the importance of each of these objectives to Ijoba Shule’s mission.
We look forward to working with members of the extended Ijoba Shule family and sharing our progress as we move closer to the goal.
